From the AR side: A Quick Reminder
Transmission of Protected Health Information (PHI)
Protected Health Information (PHI) is individually identifiable health information. It includes any part of a patient’s medical record or payment history. We, at Seacoast Laboratory Data Systems, understand the importance of keeping your patient’s PHI secure. Unfortunately, standard email is not considered a secure method of communication. If you need to email a data sample for review, please remember to strip out any PHI that may be included. For example, when sending a copy of a HL7 file, PHI may be included in segments other than the PID. Often the IN1 or even OBX and NTE segments contain PHI. For items that are faxed or scanned, please black out the patient name before sending. If you are unable to remove or obfuscate the PHI, copies of the documents for review can be placed in the share folder on your system server.
Seacoast will be closed for the July 4
Please use the emergency hotline for any urgent support needs.
